Resources Engineering Systems and ATECH Application Technology
Limited present a three day course
Who should attend and why? Engineers,
geo-scientists, technologists and managers interested in overall optimization
and proper implementation of operations related to well construction and
field production activities. Course Content: This
course will emphasize the latest developments in the evaluation and
understanding of stimulation, especially hydraulically fracturing, as a
central component to achieve better implementation of field development
strategies. The focus will be on “Cost
Reduction & Improved Measurable Performance” using Return on Investment
as the indisputable measure of each option.
Emphasis will be on the application of useful technology &
practical software. The hands-on
experience will focus on new capabilities with “PRO-software” and Internet
implementation of useful strategies for overall field development optimization. Besides exploding long-held myths (like
perforation pressure drop & high leak-off), further implications of our
new discoveries will be exploited to develop practical methodologies,
requiring mainly precise on-site engineering, e.g., with real-time
analysis. Examples will include
coiled-tubing applications (for many more fracturing activities) and
viability of open-hole completions, even in stimulating long horizontals. Course Instructors: Dr. Michael Cleary.
Dr. Cleary’s achievements and academic credentials include: Chairman
– Resources Engineering Systems Inc., 1983 present. Professor
of Mechanical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 1975-1994. Brown
University – MS, PhD, (Engineering Science), 1972 University
College, Galway, Ireland - B.E., 1972 Mike was the founder and director of the
Resource Extraction Laboratory at MIT and has supervised many projects,
including a major NSF/industry project on theoretical and laboratory
simulation of underground fracturing.
He has consulted on mechanical, civil, and petroleum engineering
problems. His current interests
include energy and materials technology and policy. Mr. Joseph Kenny, P.Eng.
Mr. Kenny’s achievements and academic credentials include: President,
ATECH University of Calgary, Canada - M.Eng. (Chemical &
Petroleum), 1993. University of London, England - M.Sc. (Civil), 1979. Imperial College, London, England - D.I.C., 1979. University College, Galway, Ireland - B.E. (Civil),
1978. Mr.
Kenny is a registered Professional Engineer and has been practicing in the
petroleum industry for over 15 years.
He has been involved in the evaluation of oil and gas fields from all
the major regions of petroleum activity in the world, and is a recognized
expert in the integration of multidisciplinary techniques to optimize
hydrocarbon recovery. What to bring: Any
and all data in digital format, preferably in ASCII (e.g. LAS), which can be
imported into the software for evaluation of your drilling, completions,
stimulation and production activities. Schedule: TBA Costs: The
course fee will be $1750 + GST per person for paid registrations received on
or before the course date. Paid registrations received 60 days or more in advance
will receive a reduced cost of $1500 + GST.
A full refund is available where written notice of cancellation is
submitted no later than 10 working days prior to course start date. Venue and Registration
